The New Schubert-Edition is a complete scholary-critical edition reflecting current knowledge of the sources and the latest research findings.
By presenting the full source material in a manner suitable for performance, the edition attempts to do justice to the composer's particular understanding of the concept of work, which often led to equivalent but conflicting versions and countless variants.
The New Schubert-Edition, established by the International Schubert Society (Tübingen), is supported by the Union of the German Academies of Sciences, represented by the Academy of Sciences and Literature (Mainz), the Austrian Academy of Sciences (Vienna) and the city of Vienna.
